Reasonable in price and long-lasting. It’s possible that Toyota, Japan’s largest automaker, chose that as an appropriate trademark. Due to its extensive user base, the Toyota brand is recognised globally as a durable and simple to fix vehicle in comparison to its rivals.

Toyota was created by Sakichi Toyoda who is an industrialist. The Toyoda Automatic Loom Works were the company’s first textile weaving machinery. After the First World War, the company started to expand quickly as a result of the apparel industry’s high demand. Toyoda Kiichiro, the son of the business’s founder, transformed it into a vehicle company in 1933 because there was a great demand for passenger cars at the time. He later named this vehicle company as Toyota.

For their first vehicle, the Toyota Model AA, they looked at western-made cars from manufacturers like General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler. This company started making trucks for use in the war when the second world war started. The firm resumed making passenger cars for the domestic market following Japan’s defeat in World War II.

Unique Manufacturing Techniques

In the 1950s, executives from Toyota visited a vehicle production plant in Michigan to see how the automotive company from the United States produced vehicles in large quantities. Taiichi Ohno, who is a great engineer, was the one who led the tour on behalf of Toyota. He is so impressed with their technique but in his observation, there are many weaknesses in the technique even though it can produce production on a large scale.

The lack of sufficient raw materials in Japan at the time prevented the application of the manufacturing technology. As a result, they created the lean manufacturing method of making cars, whereby cars are only produced when there is a demand. Every component of a vehicle is made in a factory in accordance with the specifications of the vehicle that needs to be finished. By using this method, Toyota can produce more vehicles without having to keep a stock of unsold vehicles because it saves a significant amount of labor and raw materials.

Start Conquering the United States

In the 1970s when the oil price crisis worsened, Japanese-made vehicles began to gain a place among the people of the United States. This is due to the engine capacity produced by Japanese vehicles being smaller compared to vehicles made in the United States that use a lot of gasoline. Vehicles made by Toyota were also affected by this event.

And if you want to know, Toyota became the first Japanese company to achieve sales of one million units of vehicles in the United States. From year to year, Toyota-produced vehicles gain the trust of consumers there due to the durability of their engines. Toyota also introduced their luxury model known as Lexus to compete with luxury vehicles from Europe especially from Germany.

Lexus vehicle acceptance is gaining ground in the United States due to the fun driving experience and exceptional engine durability. In 2008, Toyota officially took the throne held by General Motors as the world’s leading vehicle manufacturer.

Now they compete with Volkswagen in vehicle production. These two companies have produced as many as 10 million units of vehicles in 2020, a very high figure. And at the moment, Toyota has a superior product, the Vios GR Sport Malaysia at the moment.
